Step Out of The Boat

Matthew 14:29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.

We all know the story of Peter walking on water. At that moment he was a man of great Faith. He stepped out when Jesus called him. He was not afraid because he knew “Who” called him. Do you know who has called you? Did you recognize his voice?

John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

In your Spirit you “Know” who called you. You’ve heard it before. You have questioned that voice many times and the answer is still the same. Come. It's scary I know, for he has called me, but when I stepped out of the boat, all fears, all questions, all uncertainty, just disappeared.

What are you afraid of? What is holding you onto the boat? Is it comfort? Is it the unknown? Those questions are all valid, but unnecessary. God has not called us to be comfortable. There is so much that needs to be done. Fear of the unknown, now that can be scary. However, if he has called you, he has equipped you.

Exodus. 4:10-11 Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord?

How many times have you spoken the same words as Moses? How many more times will you keep saying them? He called you for a reason. You have what he needs to fulfill His purpose. All you have to do is step out. Stop calling yourself, or comparing yourself to Moses. You are not him. You are so much more. When will you realize who he has called you to be?

God is saying enough is enough. It's time to rise up and step out . You want things to change, you want answers to your prayers. All you have to do is step out of your boat. Once you do, all your answers will be given. However, God is a gentleman and he will wait for you with an outstretched hand. But a word of warning, he will only wait for a little while. He will not force you, he is a loving God, but his purpose must be fulfilled. If you don't step out of the boat you will miss out on so many blessings that he has for you. Yes, stepping out is scary but he will never leave you nor forsake you. He will walk with you as long as you maintain your focus on him and not on the things that are around you.

You have already lost so much time. How long will he wait? How much more time will you waste? He is calling you once more saying “Come”. You were never meant to be there on the boat. He did not put you there. He called you to be on the water, not on the boat where it's safe. You have seen his mighty hand so many times, yet you still doubt. Are you ready to step out?

How do you step out? It's all about surrendering your will to him. Surrender all questions, all unanswered prayers. Trust, believe, have faith that no matter what happens, His will is better than yours. What do you need to surrender? Again I ask you what do you need to surrender? This is what’s holding you back. Surrender it to God today and step out of the boat!!

Take hold of his hand and walk in faith. Yes, the waves look scary, yes the storm around you is deafening, but hear his voice in the midst of the storm calling you out. I assure you once you do, everything will fall into place. I leave you with this last bible verse.

Hebrews 11:17 “By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,”

It's all about surrendering everything to God. All of your hearts desire, but I promise you it's all worth it in the end.
